What schema markup does

Schema markup is structured data, written as JSON-LD, that tells search engines exactly what a page is about: your organization, a local business's address and hours, an article's author, or a list of questions and answers. It can earn rich results in Google, such as logos, breadcrumbs and FAQ snippets, and it helps AI assistants understand and cite your content correctly.

Fill in the fields for the type you need; empty fields are left out of the code automatically. Then test the result with Google's Rich Results Test before publishing.

Where do I put the schema code?

Paste it into the page's <head> or body. In WordPress, use your SEO plugin's custom schema option (Rank Math, Yoast) or a Custom HTML block on that page.

Can I use more than one schema type on a page?

Yes. For example, a service page can have Organization, BreadcrumbList and FAQPage together. Add each as its own script block, and avoid duplicating what your SEO plugin already outputs.

Does schema markup improve rankings?

Not directly, but it makes your pages eligible for rich results, which often improve click-through rates, and it helps search engines and AI assistants interpret your content accurately.

Why doesn't my FAQ show in Google?

Google now shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health sites. FAQ schema is still worth adding because it helps search engines and AI tools understand your content.
