How this password generator works
Each character is picked with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, the same source used for encryption keys. The password is built and shown on your device only. It is never included in usage reports. The tool sends generation and successful-copy totals to Neu Notion, and saves your settings in this browser.
Every character type you select is guaranteed to appear at least once, then the whole password is shuffled so its position is unpredictable.
Is this password generator safe to use?
Yes. Passwords are generated in your browser using secure randomness. Passwords are not sent to us. Only generation and copy counts are sent, and settings are saved in your browser.
How long should a password be?
At least 16 characters for important accounts. Length adds more strength than complexity, so a longer password with fewer character types can still be very strong.
What does the strength meter measure?
It estimates entropy in bits from the length and the character set (or word count for passphrases), then converts that into how long an attacker making 10 billion guesses per second would need on average. Hover the rating to see the bits.
Why do some sites reject special characters?
Some systems only accept certain symbols. If a site rejects your password, turn off special characters and increase the length to keep it strong.
Should I reuse a generated password?
No. Use a unique password for every account and store them in a password manager, so one breach doesn't expose your other accounts.
